I have been browsing again. I was looking for something different to make. I found an interesting recipe for Tiramisu Cake. I have to say there are a lot of versions out there. But, if you want an elegant looking cake with little effort and you like coffee as much as I do this is the recipe for you.

You can get the recipe complete with a picture at the ALL RECIPES site at this url: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Tiramisu-Layer-Cake/Detail.aspx

You can go to print this recipe and pick the size print out you want, full page, index size, ect.
The cake can be made by using a cake mix or you can make it from any scratch recipe for white cake. It is made in 3 layers. After baking and cooling each layer you take a thin skewer (like kabob skewer) and poke holes in each layer and pour over the coffee liqueur and brewed coffee
The Filling calls for mascarpone cheese which is a specialty cream cheese. I used a low fat cream cheese (I am not a cream cheese connoisseur) and found it worked just fine,
The Frosting calls for coffee flavored liqueur.

This cake can be made and garnished for a business meal or holiday desert or just for the family. It really is as good as it looks. Let me know what you think.

Oh, the edible differences

It’s always great when the family come to visit. We have family in California that come out to visit us. I grew up in California and moved to New York in November of 1991. The one topic of discussion seems to be the differences in the foods we have access to. For instance, I did not know what a coney dog was until I moved here. I mean the white hot dogs. I never had stuffed cabbage, perogies or boiled dinner. All of these I have come to love. Spanish rice here is made with meat and in California it is not. New Yorkers have great sausage. The different kinds of sausage is amazing to me. Sausage peppers and onions is an East Coast delicacy. Of course you have to mention the Philly steak and cheese.

There is one thing that I do miss though. Sour dough bread made from grown culture. We used to keep a starter in the refregerator and you take a couple of tablespoons out and add to your bread mix and you then add more flour to the starter to keep it going. There is nothing like a fresh baked loaf of San Fransico style sour dough bread. If you can think of some favorite differences you have noticed from friends or family that live some distance away let’s hear about it, post it in the comments

A wish for pampering

Whats your pamper wish? OK, now this is an exercise to bring you up. You need to forget negative issues- health, money, family downers, etc. Just for a moment allow yourself to think of what you would “love” to be pampered with/by. So…close your eyes and picture it then just elaborate on it.

OK, mine, well, today my husband fixed my computer so he gets the pampering, “he-da-man!” But, if it were my turn I would be in Clear Lake Calif at the Soda baths, in Soda Bay. We used to live there and there is a natural hot spring out on the lake surrounded by rocks. So you just pull your boat up and climb in and sit your little toushy down into that natural hot tub and bask, with Mimosa of course. then you climb out and jump into the cool water and then do it all over again. mmmm.

OK your turn. What would your pamper wish be? What would you consider pampering? Candle light dinner, wine, a little slap-n-tickle, a massage. It’s your wish what do you think. Don’t be afraid to write it down in the comments.
For me reality is I will probably get the slap-n-tickle. No… really, a slap on the you know where and a tickle. One can dream though.
