When the camping season is over and we are home for the winter we try to catch up on a few “Honey Do’s” around the house. The house gets pretty neglected during the summer months because we spend a lot of time at our summer camp.

Since the kids have grown and moved out (boy, did that take a lot of time to accomplish) we now have a couple of spare bedrooms that have just become junk collecting rooms. I mean literally “junk” rooms.

So we decided a good winter project would be to fix them up. First thing we dug into was the computer room and fix it up into a extra bedroom. We drug our feet in doing this because it just seem to be too easy for the kids to come back home if you have the extra room.

We decided that we would try the new laminate flooring out in there and get rid of the old carpet. Removing all the old carpet was a chore. I was so totally disgusted with what is hidden under the old carpet that had to be cleaned. I don’t think I will ever put carpet in any room I have again.

We rolled out the base cushioning layer and then my husband preceded to lay out the laminate flooring.

Granted this room is very small but this did not take very long once everything was laid out. Most of the work is in the preparation of the room.

Now that it is all finished I can invite visitors over through the winter (when we are home) and they will have a nice place to stay if need be. Hubby did such a great job!

We decided to put the computer back into the room at the foot of the bed and now we will need to move onto the other spare room. My husband is going to use it for a gun room and set up his reloading equipment.

Don’t forget to check out the great camping deal of the day!
