Electric car and first motor vehicle built in Canada (1893) at auto show, Toronto Armouries.
I was up rather early this morning. With the Daylight Saving time change and all. I watched a program “Who Killed the Electric Car”. It was a program about the electric car EV1. I don’t know about you but it made me very angry to watch this.
Basically we haven’t had the choice of purchasing an electric car because Back in 1996 General Motors introduced the EV1 electric car to the American public. They did very well until the automobile companies got in cahoots with the oil companies and slammed the car so badly with propaganda against it and they finally removed the cars from the market. They even went as far as to go and get the cars back from the consumers who purchased them and had them destroyed.
Now, the focus is on hydrogen run cars. The problem is it is proposed to take 2 decades to develop this and then we don’t know how it is going to come out. It could be a total flop.
You keep hearing that, “America is addicted to oil.” I think this is a farce. The American government is addicted to oil. I mean isn’t the fall of the car companies proof that the American people are tired of it. But, our government is still not listening to us and they bail out the car companies. Does this change anything? No, We still don’t see any new electric cars being built. But, the sales of scooters and motorcycles are up astronomically.
Why can’t I drive my golf cart to the store to buy a loaf of bread? Even though my golf cart is gas it would be such a savings.
I did see an news program that they are allowing that in some small communities. I think that we are going to see some changes.
I know that here in Upstate New York there are plans for a car company to come in and build electric cars again. They are getting backing by the government in loans and incentives. We now have a car company that is coming to Upstate New York to produce an Electric car. Reva Electric Car Co., based in Bangalore, India, would build its new REVA NXR model at the new plant in Central New York.I just have to say that it is about time.
This company is building these cars successfully in Europe now and the general public is purchasing the cars and seems to be happy with them. This may be a turn in the industry that should have come from our own engineers. Makes you wonder doesn’t it?
