Teflon®, you have come a long way baby.

As I have posted in an earlier post, my husband has been getting ready for the opening day of hunting season here in Upstate New York. He has been going through all his equipment and clothing to get ready. Yesterday he spent the entire day redoing the lights on the little hunting camper.

I was going through my email today and came across a very interesting article. The email I received was an article about “Gore Tex”. For instance did you know that Gore Tex is a brand name and not a company?

I did not know that. As the article states, Bill Gore left the company of DuPont in 1958 and started his own company, W.L. Gore & Associates. He wanted to start a company to develop new uses for what we know as Teflon® or PTFE. When his son, Bob, came into the company he took Teflon® a step further and developed Gore Tex.

Bob Gore discovered in about 1969, that when a sheet of PTFE was stretched it could be made into breathable waterproof fabric. This was a great breakthrough for any outdoor enthusiast. A fabric that not only was waterproof but could wick away the moisture and keep you dry in more ways than one.

So now we are shopping for Gore Tex waterproof outer ware for the hunting season that is just around the corner.

Personally I was not aware that Teflon® had come so far. I only knew of its kitchen use such as a skillet coating.

So we now have the new Sleeping Bag that I wrote about in an earlier post: http://athomelifestyle.com/blog/page/2/ and the hunting camper will be ready to take over to the property this week with it’s new lights.

I will be great to get the unsightly thing out of my yard even if it is only for a couple of months.

The little camper may be ugly on the outside but it is pretty nice on the inside and keeps him nice and comfortable while away at the hunting camp.

Let me know what you think, please leave a comment.
